I've been interviewing with some companies, and now I have to decide between JPMorgan Chase and Globant.
Globant is more innovative, and has remote work. I will enter to work with a Sillicon Valley startup based in San Francisco. The tech stack is React, Nextjs, AWS, and a serverless architecture.
JPM is semi remote, and less innovative. The tech stack Java, SpringBoot and AWS. But I'd do more migration tasks, like dockerize projects and pass them to kubernetes. What would you choose?

1. Try something other than consulting
2. “I wanted to try something other than consulting”
Rising Star
Hang in there, this is going to be tough for a while but you will eventually forget all about it. I wouldn't be too hard on yourself, but think about what didn't work out and proactively address in how you do your work.
In the end, it wasn't a good fit - the position /culture didn't suit your strengths.
1. I know you feel terrible but it absolutely ain't the end of the world. You will get through.
2. You can frame it any way you like - nobody can verify your words, unless they know you (hint-hint, you can stretch the truth and claim you want different projects, different corp culture or whatever)
Did they relay examples of what constitute “a consultant mindset” and how you performed against that? Perhaps this could be an opportunity for self-introspection and if you agree with any of their perspective, find an industry/role that fits well with your strengths and if not, use those examples to articulate why it wasn’t a good fit for you! ☺️
Wait lmao? Did they not pip/warn you? Was this on the spot
They said they already gave me a warning but it was a year ago when I was 2 months in
How do you get fired out of the blue at Cap after 1 year? How many performance improvement discussions have you had
Only one and it was a year ago. Theres nothing they told me to improve that I didnt improve
Tell new firms someone died in your personal life and you needed to make sure everything was situated before you started applying to new roles. You feel energized and excited to find a new opportunity
Do you have any connections in your old firm who can speak positively about you? If you’re interested in still pursuing consulting as a profession, use them. Also, sucks to be let go after a year, but that is more reflective on the firm then anything, especially for someone who just entered.
Good stuff. Use them as your references and just find another gig. You’ll bounce back from this. Good luck.
If you start applying to new companies immediately, do you even have to tell them you’re not working? Can’t you just say you’re looking to see what’s out there and may possibly make a change?
