San Diego is the bomb. I have the exact same age, gender, and interests as you. I live in SoCal and it is absolutely abundant.
I’ve lived in California my entire life (27 years) and I think there’s been only like 3 earthquakes that were actually strong enough to feel. And I grew up in LA near the San Andreas fault line
San Diego is wonderful. Colorado might work for you depending on what you do on the water. Florida is too hot and humid to be any fun for most non-water activities.
Good god not florida
first of all congrats !! would love to know which company allowed full time remote. second check out north Carolina around Raleigh and Cary. it's very outdoorsy and full of people and not too hot
Guidehouse . I’ve heard a ton about Raleigh recently - never been but heard it’s a great spot as you mentioned. Thanks for the input
St.Pete is awesome, definitely inexpensive compared to CA.
Pro
You might consider Tennessee. There's some lovely address around lakes.
Congrats!!! I dream of this situation everyday 🤕😢😩
Austin or Charlotte NC would be good
Lol Austin body of waters are only gorgeous only if you’ve never been down the California coastline. The lakes aren’t even real. Compare to the Pacific Ocean they are sad.

Seattle. Portland. Denver. LA. San Diego. Minneapolis if you don’t mind brutal winters.
San Diego is awesome. Another great thing about Southern California is how geographically diverse the area is. You’re always only a couple hours away from the beach, the city, mountains, etc. Plus you can’t beat the weather
Rising Star
San Diego is so expensive though
29F, Colorado is awesome but no water! The “lakes” are ponds according to my east coast husband but still work for paddle boarding, boating etc. we love hiking 14ers and he goes on tons of long bike rides. Just gotta get into some winter sports too but it is sunny 300 ish days out of the year
Raleigh is 2 hours to ocean and 4 hours to mountains so a great place to have best of both worlds.
Boise
Denver if you like snow sports. San Diego if you prefer the water. Both have great bike trails and great night life.
If going Florida, go Miami!!! Most fun place you’ll experience. Combo of beach + nightclubs + booming economy is great.
Spanish is a consideration— if you don’t speak it, that’s okay. You’ll pick up your “restaurant Spanish” quickly.
The culture is incredibly open, nonjudgmental, friendly, and fun. I highly recommend Miami
Do you already have a partner or is that something you’re looking for?

I’m in the same boat - my gf and I are moving to St. Pete.
