Approach it as if you’re essentially a creative strategist and base it on the rule of thirds. Anything that needs high-level concepts: 1) provide an option that’s safe and aligned exactly with the VBI/client request, 2) provide an option that’s a pushing the brand standards a little bit but not too much, and 3) provide an option that pushes the brand standards that’s backed with creative insight and rationale as to why it makes sense for the brand. That way you’re giving clients a range of what creative they’re reviewing that’s backed by strategy, and allowing you to flex your creative chops.
Congrats on the new role and don’t doubt yourself! Go with your gut and trust your instincts.
Wow, thank you for such a helpful and thoughtful response! I haven’t pitched concepts in so long, this is a great approach. I so appreciate the encouragement.
Imposter syndrome is a sign that you are taking on a challenge that will help you grow as a professional if you choose to let it be so. Look at it as a good thing! Embrace it and prove it wrong
I needed this more than you know, thank you so much. Pushing myself is very much the intention with this new career move, this was confirmation that I made the right choice.
1. Overwhelm yourself with self love. You are a bad ass just the way you are and they hired you for a reason.
2. Understand that what is meant for you, is just meant for you and no one else. You’re not going to be perfect, ever. Just work your ass off and fuck what the haters gotta say.
The words “overwhelm yourself with self love” will stick with me for quite some time. Thank you for this, I needed this.
Maybe practice concepting/pushing yourself past the low hanging ideas? I honestly think you’ll be fine!
Thank you!!
Work on visually conceptual and conceptual in general. Your design skills will be a huge benefit!
Thanks so much!
That is a part of any new job
