I think the hard part is, nobody can really know what works for you besides you. I have really bad ADHD and all of the suggestions in the world won't work for me. The only things that work for me or what works for me. So relying on other people is just setting you and them up for frustration. Figure out what works for you and stick to it religiously.
not a full solution to what you're talking about, but this is something that helps me:When I feel overwhelmed; I start with what's bothering me the most, and I assess that by its importance.
Sometimes the thing that is bothering me the most is a blocker but not a true priority, like I need to eat or drink or go to the bathroom and it's distracting me - But I'm fighting the distraction rather than solving the basic bodily function.
other times that thing that's bothering me is a priority that's not going well, and I just focus on who do I need to tell that this isn't going well
And then sometimes (like today )when I need to do real adult things that I don't want to, I come on the fishbowl and talk about other stuff instead🙃
"'Just make a list' or 'try a planner'" spoken like someone who has no understanding of what life with ADHD is like 😂. This is exactly why I don't talk to anyone at work about it. And very few people in my personal life too. I appreciate the spirit the advice is given in, but it. is. not. helpful.
