Chief
I have never had a receptionist role, but I do work at our front desk as a security team member. Be open, welcoming, cheerful, and always willing to help. Make small talk, and complement people and that will go a long way for you.
Although ive never worked at a receptionist , my mother does work as one. Customer service experience and problem solving is needed! Always look for someone who's a good people person, you never want an argumentative employee, even if it may the guest who may be in the wrong.
But thats just the basics,
Be professional, and please stay off your phone. As a manager, it doesn’t look great. I had to constantly remind them to leave them in their purse or car. You will do great , smile, and even if people are a little rough with you, remember, they are having a bad day. You don’t have to. Good luck.
Compliments toward your clients nails, skin or hair and then follow it up with whatever service would maintain or elevate that feature of theirs.
They will train you as they saw something in you to offer you the position. Be polite, listen, smile, ask questions, learn & treat others as you would want to be treated at a high end spa or anywhere.
