Just invest in VT in everything if you want to simplify things.
Don't do VTI/VXUS UNLESS you don't agree with the split that VT has (approximately 63 US/37 international), or if you want the foreign tax credit (which honestly is not much. It's like 0.02% of your aggregated amount in VTI/VXUS). Keep in mind that the foreign tax credit is a credit, not a deduction, so it subtracts from your liabilities, not your taxable income.
Not sure what you really are trying to do. Investing in VXUS is perfectly fine in a Roth IRA. If you are asking if you did something wrong by putting VT in a taxable account, I don’t think it is wrong but you don’t get a foreign tax credit that you would with VXUS

Yes it definitely is, in all 3 of my accounts that hold VT. It’s actually sad to look at lol. Given the tax parts I’ll consider finding a financial advisor to get advice from, realizing the loss, and sticking with 80% VTI/20% VXUS. Thank you so much for your insight
