do you prioritize maxing out your 401K or investing in something that has a lot more potential to grow like stocks? and why?

Stocks because it is not locked up money unlike 401k

To elaborate on IBM1, there are several ways to pull out retirement money before the retirement age (kind of a lot to get into on FB, I recommend anyone curious to google it). Plus, a 401k literally offers stock investments, so it’s weird to act like the two are different.

My 401k is stocks. The only benefit of a 401k is the tax advantage. The government agrees to take their greedy hands off your money either initially or when you withdraw depending whether it’s a traditional or Roth. That’s a huge benefit as otherwise you’d need to earn over 15% higher return to justify having your money in a taxable brokerage account. That’s said, 401ks are also a huge pain in the ass when you need to roll them over or make other changes to the account.

How concerned are you about inflation? We have 70% savings rate and 50% of our expenses are housing / utilities of which the largest part is rent which is a fixed contract (no CPI escalation, no automatic increases, paying same rent for 4 years). No car as we are living in a large city. So if I look at the components of CPI and what’s rising I am feeling pretty „good“ about it. The one thing I am „worried“ is asset inflation but obviously that benefits me directly. What am I missing?

I would like to hit fire between 40-50. Currently 27, 185k total comp (125 for me and 60 for partner). Like my job don’t hate it don’t love it. Does an MBA make sense? I’m guessing it could take me to 170ish with that schools I’m looking at but wondering if the 40-50 retirement range makes an mba not make sense since I’d only have 10-20 years to save vs 12-22.

Would have to finance the whole thing myself. Current net worth is 140k. Thoughts?

Hello everyone !
I just graduated and I have made it pass the third interview which was a two part working interview that I will receive compensation for. I have BS degree in healthcare professions and wanted to know if 40k is too low of salary to start off as a compliance officer for a pharmacy that provides discounted medications. My first 3 months will be training for my position but I will be paid the same. The job hasn’t offered me a dollar amount yet and I want to be best prepared.

Definitely took the wrong job. I was offered a seriously competitive salary and great benefits to work at a well funded startup, which is great! Turns out the salary and benefits were meant as lowkey bribes to insure I worked at the company without actually doing any work. Every single suggestion I've made has been shut down and I've been ghosted for several meetings with the CEO. What should I do? Just leave?

If you are planning to buy a house soon, here's a great way you can save taxes.

When you usually sell your shares, it attracts taxes. You either pay STCG for less than 1 year or LTCG for 1 year or above. Even if you sell your existing property, you would have to pay taxes on the capital gains.

But, if you have plans to buy a house, use the Capital Gains Account Scheme (CGAS) to save taxes.

How does CGAS work?

Let's say you bought a few shares in 2017 and want to sell them in 2022.
