Paul went on IG Live this afternoon after Karine called the police. I have not watched the video, but bloggers report that Paul accused Karine of drinking in front of their son, domestic violence (shoving him), giving him an STD, and being pregnant again. The video ends with Karine asking to be taken to a shelter. Very sad.

Exactly the reason I didn’t accept the offer. And brand is not that good either.
I’d pick AP over K any day of the week.
Agree with MD1 - not trying to convince you to stay but the two things that stood out to me: 1) I would never lateral move without a big base bump (30%), and 2) switching before Partner role always increases tenure because you need to rebuild your brand. You are not 3-3.5 years away from equity partner, you’re probably 5. If you stayed at Accenture, you would be promoted by then, likely before. If this is your 3rd year as SM, you are probably 2-3 years from promotion with the backlog. So compare your path in the next 5 years. Best of luck.
Tremendous perspective, MD2 - thanks!
In the current market I’d be very careful about any move that’s justified by differences in variable compensation.
Excellent perspective and 100% see your point and agree!
If you join as principal, typical time to equity partner is 3-3.5years (18-24 months to AP then 18 months to P)
Bonus is based on firm performance and your own performance ($$ mostly and some other criteria like followship, firm building etc)
I’m just curious about the company size comment vs Accenture?
Or is each practice within Accenture a small company?
(No comment on brand prestige - if you’re aiming for partner you shouldn’t care too much about branding. And if you don’t, not sure Kearney is less prestigious than ACN but I’m obviously biased :))
K2 is right, I should have written “expected” rather than typical, my bad
Although at 5+ years tenure as principal (which I’m surprised even exist- if anything ive seen lateral AP have longer tenure), you never get to see those 50% bonus checks
So few things:
1. Kearney brand is better than Accenture, especially in ops
2. Principal to Partner at Kearney is more of a secure path to partner in 3 years or so. Right now with Julie I would assume you have 2 potentially 3 years to MD
3. Principal at Kearney makes as much as an L4 at Accenture. Tracking that L4s in strat at Accenture make 320 base plus variable comp puts you maybe to 400is including equity. At Kearney principal will be 250 base plus 125 bonus plus 25k / 10% profit share. So this is technically a immediate promotion in comp.
I didn’t know where the brand say until AFTER. The headhunter could have spent more time selling the company and why it might make sense.
CONS
Less brand prestige
Similar base salary
A demotion / lateral move based on title and company tenure
Give up deep working relationships
Much bigger company with a lot of cushion due to diversity of work
More travel likely
PRO
Potentially a huge annual bonus
Privately held company
Get in early in a growing practice (could also be CON since could be hard do sell work as they establish credibility)
OP, I am at a similar position. What’s the salary and bonus data point at Kearney? Do you mind sharing? Thank you
Base was similar to where I am now - low-to-mid 200s. The stated target comp for Principal would be about a 13% base increase + the up to 50% bonus increase.
It is not lower than the level you are at.
Our principal is your first level MD.
P1 is a prime example of a K partner. Ask yourself if these are the types of people you want to work with, it’s more important than level and comp.
Search the thread comparing Kearney and A&M…
OP - What did you decide on in the end?
