I should add that they did it so we could have a mandatory summer shutdown of July 4 week off. They’re spinning it like this is what we wanted and asked for when really this is a cost saving measure for when people quit and a loss of flexibility.
Yea I never understood shutdowns.... I think they are great if you are an admin or work in the mailroom.
But for those of serving clients they are pretty irrelevant...
I’m sure they tried to tell you why this is good for you. A firm that I know tries to spin every clear negative into a positive. OR, they bury it at the end of a pointless email
Feel for you all. I left KPMG last year and it seems like it’s gotten worse and worse. Happy to refer.
Yeah, to build off K2 to explain, they literally just wrote a small blurb on our intranet site stating the new policy. I learned first about it from fishbowl actually. They didn’t make any proper announcement or send emails until everyone went up in arms, we’ve gotten them from practice partners, office partners, and now department partners, breaking down (talking longgggg emails) why this was the right move. It’s kinda sad (in a good way) to see how this is playing out.
What’s the point of airing this out to the entire consulting bowl? Why don’t you man/woman up and confront the people who can actually make changes if you hate it so much
Others should know what the current leadership decisions if you consider to going to K, that's why.
How do people even use the full 25 days? I legit lose 10-20 hours of PTO each year because I never use enough.
More annoyed about the change as we have client deadlines every year for quarter 3 reporting purposes, so good luck taking that full week off.
K5 is probably a leadership team member trying to justify a poorly crafted and almost offensive policy.
Do the damn math. You have 20 days plus a summer break 5 days and no mandatory PTO during the holiday +2 days. Stop the whining
You’re missing the point K7. The issue is not the +1 day gain. The issue is the loss of flexibility. I’d rather work a few days during the holidays and take an odd week off during the year (save money on airline tickets, hotels etc) than lose flexibility on when I should take time off.
EY also has a mandatory shutdown during july 4. But don’t think they took away from PTO.
No, they didn't. However, they folded in 3 personal days into # of PTO days so no more seperate personal days.
