Met with a partner at another firm (also biglaw) for an informational interview and while they didn't have a posted opening they expressed interest and liked my background/resume/deal sheet. They have called my references but said they need to get approval for any additions. Anyone experienced something similar? How likely are hiring committees to approve such a request?

Considering a move from a larger BigLaw firm to Fox Rothschild, primarily to work on matters I’m more interested in, but hopefully to also have a slightly better work life balance. I know it would be a pay cut though, and their various covid cuts have me concerned as well.
