Lately I’ve been thinking less about salary in isolation and more about how much energy it costs to earn it. Two roles can pay similarly, but one leaves you drained and the other doesn’t. Makes me rethink what “high paying” actually means.

I have noticed that more and more of the younger working generations (Millennials and Gen Z) are waking up to this reality. The old mantra of climb the ladder to earn more regardless of the cost is fading. Some people call it soft but I consider it wise. I've seen far too many people destroy their health and relationships over work. An organization that would replace them in weeks takes priority over their loved ones. That to me is complete failure.

Sure, we all want to earn more (especially with inflation) but finding that harmony of your overall life where work is a part of it rather than all of it is key.
