Lateraled one year ago to small firm that consistently doesn’t give me enough work no matter how much I hound (daily) the 3 partners I work under. I eventually want to find job in another state to be closer to home, but hate to jump a second time in such a short window as a junior. Should I stay a bit longer or leave and risk being viewed as a flight risk/job hopper??

Leave. You gave it a year. I think the job hopper stigma is phasing out unless someone has a pattern of changing firms after only a few months. As long as you have a reasonable explanation for each move you’re fine.

like

Take it off if you're currently on probation.

I was in a similar situation to you.
One year is absolutely fine. And if you show that your new firm is in a totally different state you basically have an ironclad excuse for lateraling. Basically “I loved the firm but unfortunately I had to relocate to new state due to family reasons!” No one ever questions my departure.

Tough. Well, your junior as F. I would stay, maybe email partners and ask for a review; have detailed notes of what you have done, and get a feel for where their heads are at. Maybe they dont want to train you and dont want to tell you. Either way, you will know how to proceed.

If more than 3… leave.
