Any layoff expected in bny ?
Although Amazon has instituted a hiring freeze and layoffs are probably on their way, I went through the loop for a security engineer position at AWS. Before I attended the final interviews, Amazon placed the hiring freeze and called me to ask if I wanted to go ahead or cancel my application. I decided do go ahead Right now I'm waiting for their response and the position I applied to changed from "under consideration" to "no longer under consideration". Thoughts?

they trying to morph to consulting so it shouldn't be a suprise
there was no rhyme or reason to the firings. just in Atlanta, they got rid of a junior UX, a UX group director, an Art Director, an ACD, strategist, PM, PR, account, and moved a handful of other folks to a new Chicago office ("to lessen the blow").
earlier in the year, they axed the entire group of business analysts.
Huge used to be rooted in solid design and digital product but they're clearly transitioning to strategy consulting. they're taking any terrible client that will agree to pay their insane markup. zero quality control.
Probably mid-level like the rest of the industry.
It sounds less like a specific level of role and more specifically an audit of capabilities that are less essential (http://www.adweek.com/agencyspy/huge-reduces-staff-across-u-s-offices-while-evolving-its-workforce/137812)
Doesn't HUGE regularly fire people?
@Huge1 thanks for the info and that is strange indeed. Why would they cut all the business analysts when, at the same time they're trying to build a consulting capability
That sucks.
Worth checking out Glassdoor reviews next week I guess
I thought they were hiring creatives? WTH
Yikesssss
