If it’s WPP, and it’s a lay-off not based on performance, then they will balance out the older, more expensive people with younger people to avoid lawsuits. That’s the way layoffs go these days
The first time I got laid off I lost my dream job, but got a huge raise in my new role. The second time I got laid off I went freelance and had my best financial year ever. Everyone gets laid off eventually but how you respond determines how it affects you
Something that helps me is to remember that if you get cut, it really wasn’t about you. It wasn’t about how good you are, or what you contribute, or what your future holds. They had to cut someone, they more or less just flipped a coin, and you got unlucky this time.
The wisdom passed down to me by higher ups leads me to believe, unless it’s a huge round of layoffs, that it’ll be ACD level and higher that are let go. The higher the salaries, the less people they have to layoff.
I've been laid off as a junior and as a senior and I always bounced back with better jobs it's just the nature of the industry.
No one is safe. Don’t kid yourself. I’ve seen ECD to AD to Receptionist get laid off in the last 2 weeks. Tis the season
This too, shall pass.
What’s through that next door is ALWAYS better. Trust me
@FCB1 not going to disclose that, sorry.
No prob :) .Good luck!
Sorry. We’ve all been through this. It’s just how it goes and you’ll be fine. Hang in there
What’s the agency?
You’ll be all good. Don’t worry.
Are you working on an account that has since left?
In a similar position. I'm thinking lay-offs are inevitable where I am at and I don't think anyone is safe
@Producer1 no I’m not, thankfully. It could be the lack of work happening around the holidays that has me tripping
Have they announced which agency?
Sorry to hear this for you and for others. The only thing I will say is that this happens and if it’s business contraction it’s not a personal thing and you will bounce back if you get cut. It’s always a good time to reflect, make sure your network and portfolio are tight, and be financially smart in terms of saving and planning. Wishing you the best.
Unemployment is below 4% and the job market is good. You'll be okay.
