Leaving PA as a Senior Associate vs Manager? What’s the recommendation?

Manager will open up more doors in industry/shows you have experience leading others

like

I believe leaving at manager will open more doors and higher position’s within accounting/ reporting roles within industry. However, if you’re trying to pivot into another field, I think the manager title will be a drawback as you may be priced out of the market. By that I mean, you ask/ worth a salary that doesn’t match your skill set.

I think Linkdln is a great tool to think about exit opportunities. If you kind of know what role you’re looking for, I’d look up people working in that role currently and take a peek at their work experience. You’ll be able to see how many years, if any, were spent in public accounting.

like

Senior if you want to pivot out of accounting. Manager if you're staying.

Recently left the Big4 without a job lined up. I’m hearing all my friends talking about busy season woes and I’m so grateful to not be in that position. I keep thinking of the long hours and it’s making me not want to job hunt. I’ve been looking at industry related tax roles, and generally like accounting but am open to exploration. Is there any such role that gives good comp, great work/life balance (I don’t even wanna be near 60 hours), and overall interesting role/company?

I started a company just under 1 year ago. We sell a product via ecom channels and have done ~100K in revenue with a 60% gross margin.

The first 6 months I was working a full time job. I quit my job to focus on the business full time, and have since depleted my readily available capital. I’m bootstrapping the business with my own funds. I was recently offered a job in my old industry for 80K per year. I was previously making 62K.

Should I take the job?

Has anyone ever posted a general marketing position? We have an open position on our marketing team but we are unsure what type of position to offer. We have a wide variety of needs but don’t necessarily need to have this future person have all these skills. For example we need someone with great copywriting skills and also need someone who is great at digital marketing. This person doesn’t necessarily need to have both skills but if they did great, but if only one, great too.

What’s going on FB friends,

I am contemplating a move to industry working at a VC, Tax Director role east coast. Looks like it will be primarily overseeing compliance with some aspect of advising on structures etc. There is another tax reporting head above me.

The potential comp is the low 200k with a 10% bonus (still higher than what I am making). I feel this is pretty low for VC standards but maybe my standards are also too high. I have generally seen 25% bonus with carry.

Any thoughts?
