Hi All!
I am currently a Senior Software Engineer(Backend) with 4 YOE. My current CTC is 21LPA (All Fixed) with additional Yearly bonus. I got a call from Google (Pune/Bangalore/Remote) for Software Engineer - Backend. I have the following doubts but any insights are welcome -
1. Does the lower designation offered make any difference?
2. Kinda ambiguous, but what kind of hike or ballpark pay can I expect?
3. Any similar interviews experiences or focus areas I should prepare for?
Is EY GDS providing any joining bonus ?

Please evaluate this initial offer for Apple ICT3. I think I was low balled, but I want to take more opinions. Currently Sr. MTS at VMware, received Apple ICT3. I was expecting to get to ICT4 but seems like team thinks upper end of ICT3 is more apt. Also, I think it is because I don’t have any counter offers yet.

These big numbers give me anxiety. I already have alot on my plate, how do clear it qndI move beyond.
Progression and Succesion is slow to non existent. Many external parashutes however.
No new juniors joining to pass the knowledge and experience.
First, don’t look at the big numbers here and get anxiety because they can vary greatly depending on where you live, your role, your industry, if your company offers RSUs, etc.
Second, you need to think about yourself and your happiness. If you have places you can jump to, that would increase your comp or make you happier then do it. Don’t worry about how many juniors are joining. Don’t worry about clearing your plate so you leave no work behind.
Besides, you’re never going to be able to clear your plate entirely. Every time you clear one thing there’s going to be something else added to your plate. The only way it wouldn’t is if you know you’re leaving, give notice, and then just get to work on simple tasks just to fill out your time as you clear larger things. In my experience, that rarely happens. Document what you need to for others to pick up the work your leaving, finish what you can, and move on.
And if the company can’t get juniors to join then that’s something they need to work on. Don’t hold yourself back because you feel like leaving would hurt your team/company. I can promise you they’d get rid of you in an instant if they felt like they needed to. As long as you aren’t an asshat about things no one is going to hold it against you. And if they do, well it’s not a company you should be wanting to work for anyway.

A 20yo just got a $3.5 raise after a probation period now making more than me. One of my coworkers who is a level higher than me (I’m a lvl 1 and he’s a lvl 2) is making $50k a year. He doesn’t even know how to block a website but I’m constantly told he has more experience
Best thing you can do is shop around. Get an offer or two, then walk into your office and say “I felt I was being under-compensated for the quality of work and experience I bring, so I interviewed to see my worth. This is what I was offered as a fair market value for my skills. Can you beat this considering my unique experience with your systems?” If they don’t, you have your second option in hand. If no one gives you a better offer, whelp you got some improvements to make or realities to accept for the time being
33k - junior software developer. I think I’m exceeding expectations at my job, can anyone advise what salary I should be asking for? 24f
Depends on COL, coding languages you know, and experience but I would think you could easily jump the next couple of years and double that. The hard part is just getting the experience from those first jobs so once you have 1-2 years experience, there should be major pay jumps
