Looking for advice. I’m an Analyst and really interested in exploring the LSHC sector more in particular R&D and Value Based Care. I’m currently staffed at a LS client but am given no opportunities to learn specifics to that industry & most of my learning is through PRD or online courses. I’m interested in gaining hands on experience;& have talked to my leads but they really haven’t been too helpful and want me to “concentrate on my role” (Testing, I have good feedback). What do I do?

Most of the people on my client are very technical and I don’t really enjoy my role and feel like this isn’t utilizing any of my skill sets or furthering my career. Mostly data driven analytics/visualizations, process improvement, excel modeling, and light programming. I’ve been on a few strategy and operations based projects and enjoyed those although they weren’t in LSHC. I also don’t have much client contact or skill development in this role so I’m worried about what I’m going to say if im laid off. I’ve also been collecting certs on the side

R&D is weak at Deloitte.

My advice: pay attention and learn as much as you can. Study hard for the GMAT and get into a good mba. Get into a firm that focuses on this - ZS, BCG, McKinsey, etc.

There are a lot of business skills you can learn as an analyst. So your time is not wasted.

Regarding the excel modeling and being technical, this is a necessity— I do growth strategy work for healthcare insurance and would never staff anyone who can’t model. If you don’t have the ability to back up your strategic recommendations with numbers, then your recommendations are useless to me.

That’s the thing. How am I supposed to gain more mature excel skills if I’m doing testing? I can take courses all day but if I don’t have hands on experience I feel as if it’s all wasted

I'm the hiring mgr for designers in my org. I recently discovered pay band information given to me by the HR generalist I'm working with on hiring was outdated and updated bands had been released over the summer (prior to my hire date). The outdated information had led me to believe a prime candidate was out of range. Aside from incompetence, can anyone think of a reason why HR might have withheld information about the pay bands? I assume mgrs see the full monty when it comes to pay...right?

(1/2) Hi all, based in the UK 🇬🇧, would appreciate your advice on how I could break into product management.

Context: Graduated in 2019 (Finance), 2 years at EY as a business consultant on mix of pmo projects and tech projects where I was developer (data vis, power platform, sql, vba, data analysis etc.). Joined Google on a 6 month contract as a data analyst.

Should I be applying for product analyst roles? Should I apply for strategy consulting? Could I go straight for prod mgmt roles?

General corporate in NY looking to lateral into tech transactions at one of the EC/VC firms. I’ve heard that I may get a class cut if I make the move but I’m ok with that. My worry is that EC/VC firms are crazy busy work differently from general corp, I also won’t have control over my hours, and potentially worse based on how billing differs (block billing on a few clients vs having to work with 15 or more startups). Is the same true for tech trans or IP group?
