Age shouldn’t be a factor in the hiring decision, but yes, the reality is that the tech industry can have an unspoken bias towards younger professionals, especially for newer tools or fast-paced environments. That said, lots of companies value senior experience, especially for complex projects or mentorship roles. Be upfront about your skills and showing you’re current can help a lot.
Agreed! I don’t consider age - I look at talent and ability to learn. Go for the job! Show you are a quick learner!!
Ageism is a factor and it is not just the tech industry. These companies may value senior experience and require it but they will not pay for it. Top 3 rejection justifications: over-qualified, culture fit, and cost.
