I'd counter the base salary to about $230k. Remember with Amazon your base will not grow as fast as other companies. So you better start as high as possible.
Yes counter for a reduction in the offer amount. Those are crazy numbers
This seems like a solid offer for L6 at Amazon, but there's no harm in countering. Worst that happens is they say no.
Isn't the sign on just crazy
Like 500k over two years dafuq hope they aren't hiring you to fulfill pip quota
Is Sigh-on $316/$236 paid at the beginning or is it like a bonus which is paid at the end of the first and second year?
Agreed, it’s prorated across paychecks
Sounds about right for California. I am 2.5 years in and my tc is 398k in austin
2.5 at amazon

Same, cost of living seems to be really cheap in the US as well. Their homes are like 1/4 of the price compared to Canadians. The racism, passion for politics, patriotism & gun laws are what keep me out compared to the rest of the world. Scary.

It’s the same in Canada. A house that went for 179k back in the 90’s is now 1.5M. I’ve seen townhomes in the burbs (Markham) go from 400k to 1.2M within 4 years. Another went from 400k to 1.3M within 2.5yrs in 2020 in the outskirts of the city. It’s not entry safe for anyone thinking of getting into the market but once you’re in you’re in. So when we Canadians look to the south, you’re a deal especially with your higher salaries & generally similar priced goods.
FWIW my L6 offer for Amazon straight out of my MBA program was $120k base, $26k sign on Y1, $21k sign-on Y2. I forgot specific RSU splits, but I remember it being $156k total comp averaged Y1-Y4. This was 2017 & for senior PM. I know TPM was about $20k higher per year
What role ?
Nice offers?
For the RSU, is 264k per annum, or is it spread out over four years?
Anyone familiar with an actually range for an L6 non tech Sr Product manager at Amazon with 5 yoe? Checked levels.fyi but doesn’t seem to differentiate between tech vs non tech
Thats a large range
It's pretty good
I'm reading $516 year 1 and $436 year 2. Is there some kind of a lock-in for four years where you have to give this money back if you leave or get fired? If not you better take this before they anticipate the recession and take the offer off the table. Even then, look out for the last-in first-out effect. If I were AWS, that second year payment would come at the end of year 2, so I can can you in month 23.
People who are really giving opinions on how to counter the offer better are living in a fools paradise
There is zero harm in countering a job offer and you should always do unless you were offered what you asked for. If a prospective employer decides your offer without your input they absolutely expect the counter even if they cannot change their offer, so what's there to loose?
How does one get hired during a hiring freeze?
Also fine print said not all departments are freezing hiring
Is sign on full cash ?
This was the initial offer but I discussed needing an additional stipend in advance as current employer is covering masters costs
Take it
