Looking into 529 accounts and the process seems needlessly complicated. Any advice on which ones to choose? Options are Scholars choice, bright direction, or college America

If you're in Virginia, their InVest plan is awesome and not very complicated. Make sure to take a look at the plans in your state - many offer state tax deductions for your contributions.

What’s so complicated about it? Just pick a state and set up and auto deposit in there. They send you statements. It’s no different than setting anything else up. You should look at your state’s first to see if there are any unique tax benefits. If not just pick one with low fees

Abandoning Green Card
Has anybody experience in giving up the LPR status after leaving the US for work and residency in another country/homecountry? I come from a low tax country and wonder whether Uncle Sam will send a final tax bill or penalty fee or even make it difficult/impossible for me to abandon the GC once I will leave the US again. This is crucial for me to apply for the GC.

Thoughts on buying pre-construction homes in markets that are popping and flipping selling them when construction is complete?

My uncle does this (he’s a realtor) and usually gets 2-3x return. Obviously there is huge risk because property prices can change a lot in 1-2 years, but at the same time the upside is hard to ignore.

Anyway I protect myself against the downside risk? (other than loosing my down payment)

Help me ask for a raise in my upcoming performance review? In sum, my company’s HQ is in Texas and I feel I’m being paid a Texas wage when I live in Los Angeles (the role is remote). Based off of Glassdoor, my salary matches Texas’s exactly and SF has the same role at 10k more. Should I show him the Glassdoor page? Don’t want to come off too strong. Please advise

How long is too long to try to push back a start date? Getting a formal offer early next week but trying to keep that big law bonus if possible. Firm pays out bonuses Dec 30 & I have a vacation scheduled Dec 19-23 (and was planning on working remotely the week after too). Ideally want to get EOY bonus or negotiate for a signing bonus but is it too much to push for signing bonus and those weeks off? I'm open to working remotely those two weeks but know that may not be the best when I start.
