Use LinkedIn job search feature and just start searching “tax” or “tax advisory” in different cities that you’d be willing to live. The job search tool is pretty good at returning results that actually align with your experience.

One route is to try to get into the private wealth management space. It can be competitive for sure and you need good social skills, but IMO it’s less likely to be taken away by AI and familiarity with tax concepts is a background needed.

like

CFP is for private wealth. CFA would probably be respected but from my understanding isn’t necessary. CFA is for asset management/ portfolio management, not private wealth management

Start with what experience you want to get and what is you short term and long term goal. Do you want:
Financial statements area
Tax Compliance
Audit
Technology accounting

Public vs Local government vs federal government vs private

What do you see yourself doing that would be interesting to you in the next couple of years. Where do you want to be in 10 years.

That should help narrow down what you need to look for.

How much is too much when pushing for a raise? I’ve been in my position a little over 1 year, received top scores in my annual review, kept my team intact, yet I’m paid at the lowest salary band for my level. Manager has said multiple times she would look into a raise for me but nothing has happened. Person before me in this role was earning +$17K than me. How many times do I have to ask?

I’m currently a compliance specialist, I work primarily with Secretary of State in all 50 states and I manage filing and formations of new companies, filing and tracking annual reports, filing amendments, withdrawals, and dissolutions. Are there any companies hiring for this type of work?

Do large law firms really recieve enough applications for a position that they cannot follow up when someone reaches out to check on thier application? I get that if you have to reach out, they probably weren't interested anyways, I'm just curious why there is a practice of just leaving applicants in the wind. And also, how does one go about finding out why they were rejected, if thier qualifications are "impressive"?

During the pandemic I lost my job and was desperate. I found a 5 month tax law internship to full hire and applied.
Description: “$20/hr to JDs, $15/hr to JD students”.
This was our convo.
Me: …I graduated from law school a few months ago…
Interviewer: so I’ll be paying you $15/hr if you’re hired… I’ll let you know in a week
Me (in no position to negotiate): umm… okay
*3 months later*
Interviewer: You’re hired! However it will now be an unpaid internship, are you still interested?
Me: *ghosts*

If there is a case that we have to quarantine again. Do you all think it is possible for store associates to work remotely? If so, what are some ways this could work? I fear another pandemic or outbreak and so many people being out of work again. I can't even fathom those that had jobs in retail that had little to no choice to not be remote.

Finally got my hands on one. I was expecting it to feel much cheaper than it does. Definitely still get the quality feel that Swatch is known for. The weight is nothing like a real speedy, but still looks great imo. I went with the Mission to Pluto as I didn’t want one that looks too much like the real thing, and the Mars/Sun versions had the gauche white strap imo. Overall pleased for $260.

It’s hard to trust the partners/leadership when they want us to return to office as being better when we increase offshoring? Also, the pressure on billable hours when all that really matters is how much our fixed labor costs vs. how much we can bill (which is usually fixed fee or at least a range) and the fixed labor costs of offshoring is significantly cheaper so the hours don’t matter. Am I mistaken by this viewpoint?

Compliance question here, I have always thought of the SALT deduction on the fed return as a perm item & have treated as such in such sch M-3. I see that some people put it as a temp on sch M-3. What is the justification for treating it as a temp on the M-3. You don’t set up a deferred on the def RF for the state tax deduct & it is also a rate impacting item (I know that some temps can be rate impacting). But this all leaves me to side with perm. Does anyone know the logic behind temp treatment?
