Try Orange Theory. A bit pricey but involves group workouts. In and out in under an hour.
Yeah I was in the same situation, but got started last July. I’d suggest either joining a gym and working out with a trainer there, or building a simple home gym and finding an independent trainer. What worked for me was hitting the gym every third day until I started recovering well enough to go to every other day. Only once a week with the trainer, on my own the others. Also, download the My Fitness Pal app and start tracking calories. Set it to lose 1 or 1.5 pounds a week. Then stay in the calorie guidelines. If you want more you need to earn those calories. Get a EufyLife scale and weight yourself once a week. There’s also a ton of good info on YouTube (get Premium). Once you see some results the positive reinforcement will keep you motivated. Good luck!
I'd recommend Stronger U as a start.

I cannot recommend boxing enough. We use FightCamp and it’s actually pretty fun to the point it doesn’t even really feel like working out. I have muscles I haven’t seen since my college athletics days now. But the good thing is that boxing grows with you…as you get better you hit harder so the workouts keep getting more challenging. And I prefer early morning workouts…easiest to avoid getting scheduled over. No one schedules 5AM calls. 🤣. Good luck.
I would highly recommend trying the “Future” app. It has been life changing for me. You get to pick a personal trainer on their platform who will send you workouts for the week, every Sunday. Your apple watch will track your workouts as you do them and track your heart rate, duration, calories etc and automatically report to your trainer. They will constantly be available to get on a video chat and support you every step of the way.
I’d echo this. It took nearly a year to get our home gym equipped with supply chain delays, and then six months spent feeling guilty that we weren’t using it. My spouse and I both started working with trainers on Future last fall, and it has been a real game changer. It helps to know basic movements beforehand, but I’d recommend it to just about anyone.
If you're male, try F3 - it's changed my life and more broadly than just the physical fitness I've gained. F3 is a network of free, peer-led workouts for men. Mostly "bootcamp" style, but always meant to accommodate all fitness levels. Working out with a group provides motivation, accountability and a sense of camaraderie that was missing in my life. There's more than 3,000 F3 workout locations across the US, so I hope there's one near you, search "F3 Nation" to find the website and then click on "Locations".
Get a personal trainer. Start there.
I play golf several days per week. Walking and carry my clubs. Lost 30 or 40 pounds doing that (and my handicap is improving too!). 😎
You can be like me and get cancer.
this was me last July- didn’t workout at all during covid since feb 2020 until July 2021. i started jogging/running outside. it took a while at first to build up my endurance and i’d start running a half mile then walking a half, and going for three miles. then after two weeks i was up to 3/4 of a mile running increments, and then a few weeks later i was at 1-1.3 mile stretches with short walks in between. now i aim to get 3-4 runs in per week and in total it takes me about 35 minutes to cover 3 miles (including walking breaks). i definitely feel way healthier now and the runs are a great way to clear my head
I did the same thing...walking, then adding jogs, then running for longer periods. I'm up to about 2.5 miles and run about 80% with short walks in between. It's been a little difficult to get 5 runs in per week during busy season, but I try my best. Another huge thing I did, cut out eating out. I maybe do it once or twice every couple of weeks. Meal prep is key. I feel so much healthier and down significantly in weight.
Good for you! Try Optavia. 5 and 1. Sort of like key but puts your body in fat burn. So changes shape of body vs just losing weight. Eat every 2hrs or so of their bars, shakes, whatever you like. After the first few days you don’t get hungry. No exercise. Wife lost 65lbs in 5-6 months. I lost 12 in 3 weeks and just used it to tone up. Just need a little discipline not to eat carbs and other stuff. The one meal a day you eat is pretty easy to manage and you have a coach when you sign up. Goal is to put your body in fat burn mode.
Make a goal to sweat every day or at least 4 days per week. Doesn't have to be complicated or super time consuming. Read James Clear's Atomic Habits for inspiration and strategies. Start small, build the habits, then work up to more challenging things. Peloton app is a great option - you get a huge catalog of workouts to try at your pace, and a built-in habit tracker. Once you see the dots on your calendar, you will not want to break the streak and you'll begin to crave the workout. Best of luck to you.
