Does ey gds lay off?
Any layoff expected in bny ?
Thought this was interesting. Across 160 teams of researchers, just about all failed to make good life outcome predictions on things like GPA, evictions, layoffs, and others. Data followed 4.5k families across 15 years, with 13k features (varied over time). Haven't looked at it directly yet, but will be turning the docs and data inside out... In the meantime, authors claim this as showing the limits of ML. Oh, and it's published in PNAS, so you know there's some big publication energy there.

They likely will. They don’t care.
^this. Do what’s right for you. Loyalty and consulting don’t go well together
Not true. Last year firms dumped their loyal long time employees without any regard to the strength of their network or their pay. Convincing yourself to be happy with lower pay is a 🤡 move
If your numbers are good you’ll be fine. If not, look out. No different than any other time.
Why do you think I got myself staffed on a ~2 year project? I’m new replaceable and still learning. I think a lot of people should be concerned

Feeling the same. We just had the best first quarter in our history but our 12 month pipeline looks... not great. Meanwhile we’re drastically ahead of our hiring plan.
Lots of people and potential for not lots of work? Perfect!

The market is going to be strong for a few years. Most importantly you’ll need to build a strong network and sales.

I'd recommend looking for firms that didn't decide to cycle through staff during the pandemic... Layoffs really ought to be the last resort in a consulting firm since the product that we sell is billable hours. If I lay off staff that's otherwise performing, I just have less inventory to sell when demand increases - and consulting was never hit as bad as the predictions expected.
We didn’t lay off people we just have so much work now
EY didn’t lay any consultants off during COVID.
