This is a big pay cut no? Think you can definitely push for better (even without making EM)
You can definitely find better in big tech.
For startups:
Assuming you are post-mba , it really depends on your prior work experience. For example, if you had 3 yoe as a teacher before your mba then this is great. If you had 5 yoe in tech before mba then this is too low.
Ok saw you were 2.5 yoe out of undergrad—in that case still solid. Yes there are some people pointing out they got 300k plus with 3 yoe in strategy consulting but that’s probably more the exception than the normZ
Are you a first year ASC? What’s the location? I think it’s a low offer either way
Not necessarily. Your cash comp would go down but you can make up for it with equity. Why do you want to leave in 6 months? You won’t get much credit for your McK tenure. Also, most people make EM (atleast the official designation) between 2+0 to 2+4
Why not stay a year or two? You could double that comp easily....
Ahh confused by the 6m associate tenure.
I went to a late stage biotech. I also interviewed with an earlier stage company when I took this role and also entertained an offer from another in the last 6 months. Both were series A. The cash comp was significantly lower, 40-50% cut. There was equity to close the gap but that is a roll of the dice.
The trick is that you have to find a startup with the valuation that they can hand out 100k+ in equity to early joiners without giving them multiple % of the company.
