Hi music teachers! How are you surviving? I’ve been teaching band and choir for a long time, but distance learning and Zoom has me stumped. I’m lucky to have a job, I realize. What are some things you’re doing in your virtual classrooms that your music students enjoy?
I love teaching art but am having to teach remotely to 1150 kids, k - 5. Have about 54 amazing elementary art teachers in my district that share SO much! I could retire (34 yrs), but just don’t want to because I love what I do! Feeling like my students aren’t getting what they should because I am struggling with Zoom, Microsoft, safe YouTube, bitmoji, embedding, downloads, editing, etc. Anyone else feeling this way?
A few weeks ago I had a boss make fun of me on a call for looking “gloomy” and he wouldn’t let it go. He kept yelling in a joking way at me to ‘cheer up’ in front of others on a zoom call. I wasn’t being rude, just quieter that day, as I was going through a mental health issue. . It’s been eating at me the way he bullied me on call - should I say something ? I feel a 55 year-old man should’ve learned not to do this by now... don’t know how to come at it without seeming whiny WOC...
My friend from Stanford GSB is launching Launch Club: a startup course and a community for people seriously considering pivoting into entrepreneurship.
He's interviewing people to better understand their needs and will give a 15% discount on the course for those who participate in the interview.
You can also use that time to get feedback on your idea/space. He is super well-connected with top VCs and CEOs in Silicon Valley.

Seven hours of zoom conferences is mentally draining. They’re great and all, but I think we need to chill out a little bit.
Beyond the obvious, what substitutes for pre-Covid behaviors have you found yourself making in the post-Covid world? (And by obvious I mean please dont say video chat, I loath Zoom at this point).
Colette - as a manager, how can identify the line between giving my subordinate support vs Slack? (E.g burnout once , shame on me. Twice, shame on you?)
I’m going to start doing read alouds on Zoom for the students. Any recommendations for upper elemetary? Maybe something uplifting to help battle the anxiety they might be feeling?
Skype conferencing 😡👎💩
It has been almost 3 months since I've shifted to Pune cz of ZS. initially, I was not staffed then I was staffed on a short term project where no one was from ZS Pune (everything done via zoom/teams) & again I'm not staffed on any project.
I hardly know anyone from ZS Pune. Not able to find a flat, living alone in a PG paying high rent.
I would've saved atleast ₹80-90k if I was at home. My reason for shifting was that I'd meet new folks in the office & learn something but that's not happening.
Question: would you dress as a drag queen for a work Zoom HH? The theme lends itself well to being Alyssa Edwards. Not in the closet but not sure if it might be disruptive. Thoughts?
When everyone is getting more than they’re full of Zoom meetings, what are some other ways to keep employees engaged, connected, and feeling like they’re part of something important?
What is the acceptable interval of pinging someone on slack? (Am chasing down information, took 48 so far and the conversation is not going anywhere)
What is the modern dress code for a zoom interview? Wearing a suit feels potentially out of touch with the moment and a tie feels obviously so.
Fellow consultants, apart from Skype-like apps that only share screens, are you aware of tools that can be used for remote workshops, i.e., ability to gather input, share video, and facilitate?
Starting a new position in a few weeks. I was fortunate I started my current job before the pandemic, so I was able to build relationships. Given the nature of my position, which involves business development, I am a little concerned about not being able to interface with my customers and colleagues in person. Zoom can never replace walking the hallway. Are we at the point where the hallway is virtual?

Curious if anyone has experiences they could share of transitioning from Biglaw in US to positions in Europe, namely UK, Germany, and Belgium. Are those positions mostly limited to in-house at foreign-based companies, or is firm placement an option (assuming not simply transferring to a European office of your firm).
Currently working at a nice consulting firm in the Payments processing space. Expected total comp this year is around $125k, but with commissions, upwards of $160k in coming years and beyond.

I’m about 9 months in to a job where I was promised training, in an entirely new area of law (and new procedure) and got none, and was just told I’m on 30 day probation for not “getting it” quickly enough. Has this happened to anyone else? I want to stay at this firm for a number of reasons but I’m starting to resent the complete lack of help that got me here. Should I have expected to need to learn more on my own despite their promises?

How prepared/familiar are McK interviewers with the case they’re facilitating? I did my phone case for McK today and the whole case was delivered in a very abrupt way where the questions themselves didn’t exactly flow (were jumping around) - I.e I got some random math question upfront and then was asked for my approach, then some seemingly unrelated hypothesis question that had me convinced I had misunderstood the upfront business problem, and I clarified the problem with him again, (cont’d)
got hired to MBB as an experienced hire and I'm thinking about pushing my start date by a month or two (from July to August/September) so I can get some time to rest and see some family between jobs. would this adversely impact my performance/perception relative to my peers, or impact prospects of early promotion (hoping to get expedited promotion as I have 2 yoe already)? current situation will not allow me to take any time between starting.
is it acceptable to say my why mckinsey is because i enjoy playing the villan role. ever since i was a young child i relished at being the robber in cops and robbers and was really looking to take this step in my professional career
Did my decision round with BCG and came out feeling meh. The interviewers pushed me a lot (made me brainstorm on where to start until I found the right place) and didn’t really work with me through the case (just let me go on even if my I was a 0 off in my calculations).
