Faced this weird behaviour from Optum recently. Gave interview for Data Scientist position. HR said feedback is positive. Asked for documents. It's been month now since I have shared the documents. I have no update on the offer. Today I called HR, she called me back saying the position is on hold due to recalibration in team, She has shared interview feedbacks to other teams and will get back to me in couple of days. I am clueless now. My last working day is approaching (In a month). Any Help??

Promotions aren’t about holding a position for a certain amount of time, they are about doing the work, learning the work, and being able to reach the work to others. If you are on leave you aren’t doing any of those things at your employer.
You are missing the point, when you aren’t working you aren’t learning and growing meaning you aren’t qualified for a promotion. This isn’t across the board because some people learn very quickly so they may earn a promotion only working 15 mos out of 24 mos but it isn’t many.
Just as a reminder … maternity and paternity leave at KPMG is 6 month. As a manager you have to gain 2 years of experience to become a senior manager. So I’d not gain 25% of experience due to personal matters, and then let’s be honest, once I’d come back, I need an adjusting period as well. If I’d be still promoted to SM, I’d be simply incompetent as a SM… and that’s just a disappointment for the entire team, cause they count on me. It’s not about the paycheck.
There should not be any more slavery we should all be free by now
lol look at all these corporate slaves defending their masters. Wild.
Coach
Indeed!
“Modern day slavery” because a company…checks notes…. provided a benefit of paid time off to the employee
Simping for a $30 billion dollar corporation is crazy work
I know high performers that went on leave and were still promoted to M and SM (audit). Gotta really show them your worth while you there / make them miss you while on leave.
Gone are the days of getting a promotion based on time spent in a role.
Coach
Absolutely!
I mean you did contribute less so…

I think the problem is with your definition of slavery. They will not chain you to the desk and whip you if you decide to leave… if they do, it will be criminal and you should call the police. If that is not a common practice, by calling it slavery you are severely undermining what the actual slaves went through…
Now regarding discrimination: If you believe they are being discriminatory then what is holding you from filing a formal complaint? If you are right, you will be owed a settlement…
I can’t tell if you’re trolling or not. So if you’re trolling, this is A+. Bravo!
I think you are forgetting about the way slaves were treated. Call me when they start whipping you, lynching people, or denying you basic rights. You are being dramatic.
