How is maternity leave for equity partners handled at your firm? I’ll be the first female equity partner at my firm to have a baby (which is insane, but let’s set that aside) so there’s no policy at this point. I think the other partners are looking to me for suggestions, but I’m not sure what to propose. Would love to hear how other firms handle this. Looking for insight on if making a career change into consulting is a good or bad idea with everything going on right now. Concerns involve: building and maintaining a strong network virtually, getting staffed on good projects without a previous track record, not learning as much as I would in-person with clients and experienced team members, and potentially getting laid off given limited senior leader exposure to “shield” me.

Hi all experienced masters. I’ve been working for about a year now and want to understand how progression works. I have worked extra hard in my first year to over perform by 2 levels, only to realise that the so called "performance based" also has an unspoken "at least one year gap between promotions" tag with it. Is this the norm? Should I taper my expectations (but also my drive) or any other advice?
