Most times when you utilize PTO is it mainly used for out of town vacations or staycations at home?

It varies. This year we've been mainly in staycation mode so far. But in the fall we've got a "real" vacation lined up so that will be far out of town, as in out of the country.

like

I really wish I could take an out of country vacation, at least for two weeks. First I need to get a passport 😜

Also depends for me. Sometimes I take a full week or 2 off to travel out of town. On other days if PTO is harder to use in longer stints than my vacation days, I opt for three or four day weekend staycation here and there.

like

Nice I love 3-4 day weekends. I did that for this weekend and took pto for Friday and Monday. I also like to cluster my remote days along the weekends. Like Thursday/Friday or Monday/Tuesday.

Honestly I would say I do little staycations more than I go out of town. We usually only go out of town for the holidays and then we do one big two week vacation in the summer with the family. Most of my other PTO is spent in town.

like

Sometimes when you go on a vacation out of town you need a vacation from your vacation LoL

In my dreams, I use my paid time off for amazing vacations, But sadly I rarely get to travel anymore. I also rarely use my PTO for a staycation either. I typically use my PTO for appointments or special events. So, I rarely give myself chance to enjoy my time off of work. How do you spend your pto?

smart

I also use PTO for appts and special events as well. Honestly I use PTO mainly for staycations or self care 🧖‍♀️ mental health days.... basically just a break from commuting and waking up early, and sitting at a desk all day.

Here's a question I wish I never had to ask. Is it better to use the code for bereavement leave or just burn pto I'm going to lose anyway? Does it make a difference from a utilization standpoint?

I have a governmental entity client in Texas that wants to offer 6 weeks of paid parental leave for all employees, even those who aren’t eligible for FMLA. After the paid 6 weeks, the employee can choose to continue paid leave using any accrued personal leave.

Texas does not have a paid parental leave statute.

If paid leave above what is required is offered for parents, do we also have to provide the same benefit to other employees that are eligible for unpaid leave?

My long term goal is to have benefits be my main area of practice.

My wife and I are moving to Boston from overseas (we’re from Italy and we’ve recently won the diversity visa green card lottery).

We are looking to rent a 1BR starting in January, ideally for ~$3k/month. I’ll be working in the downtown area.

Do you recommend we go for a serviced/luxury apartment (e.g. Montaje, 345 Harrison, etc.) or hire a broker to get a “normal” apartment?

Any managed buildings recommendations within our budget? Also, what are some good brokers we could work with?

Thanks!

I am only 4 months into being a surgical coordinator. I love the position itself however I am struggling to adapt into my new work environment. My position puts me in a place where I need to interact with my new coworkers but they are not as welcoming as I expected. There is also another surgical coordinator however I have come to find from other staff that there is a long history of her running other staff away and not fully training other surgical coordinator staff properly. Any suggestions?
