Multiple mortgages. Planning on buying something small and relatively cheap for my mom and making it a primary residence for me and SO as well. My mom will just pay us what she can on the side. We will continue to rent. Then maybe in 3 years buying something for ourselves. How complicated will this make that ? We will probably qualify for 1.5M. Planning on spending 200K for mom. Not sure about ourselves. Guessing it’s all about Debt to Income ? May get the property for mom on my own without SO

On the mortgage, you’d say primary residence but not live there? That feels like borderline fraud.

like

Maybe that’s their primary residence, but they need a condo to get away every so often (or maybe most of the time). Hard to know for sure.

SO or wife?

She will be wife soon. Not sure exactly when with all this Covid nonsense.

Is your intent to report the rent that mom pays you as income on your tax return?

15K or less. And that’s person. So yes.

If you have a signed lease and can prove your mortgage is covered by the rent amount being paid, it’s a wash. Doesn’t impact your qualifications.

You’ll be fine. Once your loan closes literally nobody cares what you do to the place.

A director in another unit wants to meet me to “continue a conversation we started last year”. He is referring to the time I had asked him if there were openings on his team. That was over a year ago. I am not too happy where I am right now ( I stayed where I was). I also don’t know if he really has an opportunity or if this is just some corporate circle jerk where my current director is trying to “smoke me out”. I don’t speak poorly of my team/work.
