Would you invest in individual stocks if you're invested in a fund that includes those stocks as well? Why or why not?

I invest in individual stocks in my brokerage and etfs/funds in my retirement. Down only 15% vs market’s decline

Yes - if you’re in a 30 stock etf that includes apple, and you want more exposure to Apple, you can buy more Apple.

My retirement accounts lost more money than my actively traded brokerage acc. My retirement is forget it money. Don’t want to track what companies the ETF is invested in because the whole point is that it’s diversified so risk is spread out. Each etf will only hold a small percentage. You’ll just have a bigger portion of your money into one company if you invest in their individual stock

I’m seeing lots of posts about really bad losses. If you trade you’re going to lose money - hopefully not all the time, but many positions will be mistakes. But you need a process to find ideas and manage positions. Two books you should read are “The New Trading for a Livinng” and “The Laws of Trading.” Both look at psychology, process, and risk in different ways that can help you work out your own process. The next 18 months will be much harder than the last 18 - time to start learning.

Any downside to buying a 1bed 170k starter house instead of paying 1.5k in rent for a couple of years? Living with parents and thinking of getting a new place post covid.

I'm able to buy the house all cash or at least 50% down (credit is low) and assuming closing costs are not that big a deal at this price point. If my math is correct then buying comes out to be better in this situation but I've never owned any RE before so wondering what else I might be missing.

Due to a family situation we are looking to move to a different state. Normally we would sell our current home and buy a new home in our new location. We are moving from Vegas to Sacramento and we are not sure how long we would stay in the new area. Thoughts?

Understanding, $1M is no longer the goal but for those of you that have achieved this already - What was the age you achieved it and are you including your home equity?
