I’ve never been in a similar situation, and there me be others on here with better advice, but I certainly would not resign to help my agency not pay me severance. No chance. Why didn’t you just accept the other internal offer while applying to the other agencies?
The type of work we do did not leave me much time to interview or find another opportunity, i have wanted out for a while, and they never gave me clear answers on severance to begin with. I told them I wanted different types of roles than account and my request was not offered when looking to place people
Agree with AS1. If your employer offers you an assignment and you turn it down, that’s the same as saying “I don’t want to work here”. But is it too late? Can you still say “yes” to the offer?
If your position gets eliminated and you decline the new position they offer you, that is a resignation. Generally a company will offer you a new position OR severance pay, not both.
Appreciate the direct answer thank you

Your mistake was turning down the internal offer, never pull a move like that with nothing lined up, better to take it and keep looking while being paid and having insurance.
It doesn’t matter. You are not in for then long haul, just until you find your new gig externally. This works to your advantage — keep income coming in while you job search and it is easier to find a job when you have one (you look more attractive to recruiters)
It may be more about paying unemployment but they used “severance” as an excuse. If you resign you cannot collect unemployment.

That’s great, but just pointing out that when you turned down an offer within the company you shot yourself in the foot with severance.
Of course this is a resignation…?
If they can’t shift you to another client, it’s their problem. Time for them to pay up 💰
Maybe so, but being “asked to resign” tells me they’re trying to be slick. If it’s either or, just fire me without severance? I don’t have to make this easy on you.
