My company LOA form has start/end date of STD and start/end date of paid parental leave. How do you figure out that? Should I call hr? Is STD used up first?

Call HR, they’ll walk you through it

like

Are you sure that’s in the employee section?

Call HR. For my company, we use 1 week of parental leave first while STD is being processed, then the STD kicks in, followed by the remaining parental leave… but HR would know for sure.

Mine did too.
I’m in CA so disability is 4 weeks before due date and 6 weeks after for vaginal delivery, 8 weeks after for C section. Then after disability ends, paid family leave (my firm pays for 3 months, or CA pays for 12 weeks if your employer doesn’t pay). Then after that, I applied 4 weeks vacation.
So for me it was 10 weeks + 3 months + 4 weeks, starting 4 weeks before delivery, to be adjusted later based on actual disability (like if I deliver late or there are complications that extend disability).
But ask your HR. The answer could be different for you based on your state and your company’s policy.

I have a total of 4 years sales experience, 1 year in life insurance sales and 3 in retail banking (lending, investment referrals, merchant services referrals).

I did well in banking, but incentive plan has suffered tremendously, so I’m looking to jump into tech sales where I could be more compensated for the work.

Anyone in tech sales willing to chat? ☕️

Trigger: rare illness post birth

Just sharing that I was diagnosed with postpartum preeclampsia 3 days after giving birth despite not having risk factors or preeclampsia in my pregnancy. Sharing as I had absolutely no idea about this illness.

Main things to do are check your BP everyday at least the first ten days after you give birth, and go to hospital if it's very high (over 160/110). If you get severe headache or stomach ache then also be vigilant.

Happy to answer any questions!

Currently 16 weeks with an inconsistent bump. Sometimes is noticeable and other times it’s not, anyone experienced this? Currently it went back to almost non existent and am worried

Hey everyone. I found out we are expecting our first child and I’m really nervous. I got into consulting one year ago and I’m up for promotion this year. With timing of our performance conversations I would have to inform I’m pregnant before outcomes - then shortly after the promotion effective date I would go on a leave for due date. I’ve worked really hard and I’m worried our wonderful news will throw chances with this :(- also if I don’t get promoted pretty sure it’s up or out. Any advice?

Did you do the NIPT? I just had my first prenatal appt and they scheduled me for the NIPT at 10 weeks. I’m a little nervous and anxious. Did anyone get it and got a false positive? Do you not recommend it? I wish I could ask family but we’re not telling anyone until the 12 weeks mark.

How did you tell your manager you’re pregnant? Did it affect pay/promos? And then, subsequently, how did you start letting colleagues know you’re pregnant? Feels awkward to just randomly drop the news in a meeting! I work remotely so it’s hard to tell by video :) I’m 21 weeks and feel like I’ve waited as long as I can to at least notify my manager. I was waiting to negotiate my salary for next year but per company trend that doesn’t get set until January (manager reviews are written in Dec).
