Wow. If you really are looking to transfer - hit me up at fishbowljobs@gmail.com. I’m in-house (we are hiring a bunch) but have a ton of contacts at agencies that would not treat you that way at all!
Hi OP. Congrats on the young lion. If you won that here we would have lost definitely given you the week without impacting your vacation time... at a minimum. Probably would have flown you there too. Come interview. I’d enjoy meeting you and hearing about your project
Ask if Cannes counts as vacation days for any of the C-level people going who DIDN’T win anything
YES! You seriously need to do this. You should ask in a professional way, of course. But definitely ask. It will point out the hypocrisy
Cause i believed it would turn into the best. And i turned down 2 offers for more money because my creative director said that they’d match me later but never did.
Next time. Get that into writing
You need to leave. That is total b.s. Call those 2 agencies back and start looking at others. Winning a lion at a young age will help you a ton. That place you’re at sounds terrible
I won in 2011 and my agency did so much to recognize and support it. They got me a better hotel than the one that the contest covered. Your agency should celebrate the win and showcase their young talent. If you’re happy, stay, otherwise leverage that win while it’s current
I’m actually at publicis.sapient. We’ve merged out here.
I’ve worked at both those places. They are terrible. Please leave. You’re clearly better than them already
Damn man, that’s bad. Reach back out to the people who gave you offers before? You’ve got the goods it seems, so the new year will hopefully bring new opportunities to you.
The company didn’t have to pay a dime. The competition sponsored everything.
You won a young lions for your own work not agency work correct? So when you go to Cannes you are representing yourself and not your agency. It should be vacation time if you go. It’s not company business
That's plain dumb
Never stay for money. It costs you more in the long run (as you’re seeing now). Get out.
Come to Performics or Starcom :) you keep your benefits since it's one holding company under Publicis. We'd never go back on our word like that!
@OP which Digitas office/location are you in? That sounds very unusual. Should be considered a work event, and in other cases at Digitas you could have received BENREC (which is literally recognition days) for efforts like this. Definitely flag with HR as that sounds very off vs standard Digitas practice. Huge congratulations on your win as well! Well done!
Nah. It was completely okay. They let us enter.
Allowing you to enter and supporting your entry are different things. Either way, you should've asked first.
@ecd i’d like that. How do I get in touch?
Name is Tim Hawkey. Hit me up on LinkedIn
Nope.
2018.
I mean take the vacation days if you need to. Make sure you let recruiters and ECDs you will be there and turn Cannes into 4 days of interviews and run with it
