Finally found THE one, after over a year of searching and trying out at least 5 different ones!
A nice comfortable office chair.

My criteria: mesh seat and back, arms, headrest
I tried cheap ones from Amazon. Expensive, second hand gaming chairs. Tried HM Aeron (second hand) and while I didn't like the bulk and the general design, I was sold on the mesh seating. I wanted to get the ErgoChair 2 from autonomous, but it doesn't have mesh seat.

Get another remote job
That’s my plan. Moving from DFW to semi-rural West Texas soon to be closer to my family. If my time with the firm ends, I’ll just find another one that embraces the remote way of working. They’re a dime a dozen anymore.
Worst case scenario you go to a coding boot camp and secure a remote 6 figure job for lyfe
The number of people applying for remote jobs far outweighs the number of jobs so it’s definitely a risk. That being said you are probably considering moving somewhere very LCOL so even if you had to drop down in pay to secure remote it would probably be okay

Out of curiosity where is “somewhere without jobs”?
I would like to live in Maine where I grew up. So closest market is Boston which is like 2.5 hrs. There is virtually zero consulting presence in the state
It is a risk but so many other remote jobs
Got to any other consulting firm which are mostly remote
