Sounds like a great move. As long as you're in DC those quals will be useful and in demand at big tech.
Thanks, I just don't know if the work will be exciting.
Besides, my peers from my MBA program are doing strategy and here I am working on a Sec+ cert on the weekend.
I don't want to sound ungrateful but I just don't know if my heart is in it.
The space you’re going into is where the MBA value doesn’t really matter much. As a Booz alum, I’m not sure if your leadership understand your aspirations instead of finding the easiest ways to get you billable. I would think that you might better fit in with Booz Allen’s corporate strategy or BD team. On the consulting side, I do remember there was a very small commercial strategy team that had a bunch of Kellogg, Yale, HBS, and Tuck alums working but I’m not sure how they’re doing now.
I’m sure trying to get you security+ is probably due to contract requirements that anyone working with privileged accounts need the cert, and TS can sometimes take up to 2 years to get. This is very confusing as to why you got in this situation. Did you get an MBA to leave pre-sales and go into strategy work?
I respect that decision and I personally think there are plenty of interesting opportunities within the federal market. I recently gave up my deposit and admission to Darden EMBA because I am so happy with my current situation. I think pivoting from Federal work is always available. It can be difficult, but I’ve seen people jump from heavy DoD experience to FAANG from Booz Allen, so it’s all about how you control your development and your brand.
We’re looking to hire, dm me!
IC for sure…with BD work you could score some great contracts in there. Wanna team up? Haha
