My manager is closer to retirement age and there are times I feel like they forget things constantly. Would you rather have an older more experienced boss or someone younger like a millennial?

I'm neutral here. Age doesn't matter much to me. Competence does.

Yea very true

I don’t know that generation matters vs. character, but I don’t like having a manager that’s checked out.

Age doesn’t guarantee or preclude wisdom.

like

True age is just a number but there is nothing worse than a manager who isn’t competent

That may be character vs. age.
Organization deficiencies vs. senility.

Very true!

I have a manager who is older and has a lot of wisdom, but I also feel like he is pretty careless and often doesn't bother to remember things that matter to me. I have to remind him constantly to check up on important things that I need for my job or my career advancement.

I had one of those managers too. They seem to react well if you’re more social with them

This executive I support has given me an e-gift card for the 3rd time in the past 5 months. Each gift card is $300.

I had already told him monetary awards were not necessary as the "thank-you" and words of appreciation were enough for me.

Is it normal to receive such large monetary awards? I think 50~100 is acceptable

I'll tell you what it is: referencing!

You have to do so much of it, and it's so annoying. You have to cite your sources, but there are so many different formats for citations! And then sometimes you don't even know how to cite something, and how are you supposed to know that unless you ask someone who knows? And even then, they might not be sure whether it should be an in-text citation or a footnote…
