Looking for advice! I was approved to work remotely but my salary will decrease 10%. I received two raises so the decrease brings me down to my previous salary. I was told that it’s due to the cost of labor in the area.

I’ve been with my company for 8+ yrs, I love my manager and the work I do (engagement, recognition, & wellness programs) but I feel like I’m limiting myself since I have the experience, an HRM degree, and SHRM-CP credentials.

Should I apply for roles outside the company?


Recently left an HR management role and looking to potentially pivot to talent acquisition. I live in a rural area in Canada with limited opportunities for HR and relocation is not an option. Hoping to find a remote role. I'm a dual US/Canadian citizen with US and Canadian HR certifications so hoping those are seen as assets. Advice, suggestions, referrals are all appreciated.


How did everyone here get into sales? Would love to hear your stories!

I was getting out of the military, had no directly transferable work skills, and needed to make a living in an expensive city (San Diego). Started looking at my options and found that I could do menial labor for just above minimum wage OR I could learn to get people to buy things and make this wonderful thing called commission! Took a job in insurance sales and the rest is history! Been in sales for about 15 years now ❤️


Performance Metric Question - can anyone share how they measure performance in an environment where collecting payments drives the business? How do you incentivize for making payment goals to ensure the sale/money is made but at the same time not impacting customer experience or bad behaviors to make attain incentives.


Should I pay for the updated SHRM-SCP materials or is it ok to use the books from 2020. I hear the test has changed

Can you sell your used shrm cp books from the learning system? If so where?


Our sales team sells membership for $30k-$75k and make about $400 on each sale now matter how much. Each month management takes $500 for a “minimum performance charge.” All and all, my colleague has made the company over $400k this year and has only made 0.2% of that ($8k). Sales reps also report to 3 different people on average and there’s no cohesion between the 3. It’s wild.

Does anyone have the 2020 SHRM books for sale or to borrow? My job won’t contribute towards my certification. I’ve already paid for my test. I have the books from 2015 but I’d like to study from the 2020. I tried finding them online to purchase but sellers of affordable books aren’t responding.

How do you handle aggressive, hard-ass leadership?

I was on a group strategy call and our VP says "OK *account manager* (me), we have decided that your new focus needs to be electronics, do you understand that?" He said it in a very stern tone of voice. Well of course I understand it because it was my f*cking idea that I brought to his attention prior to Christmas.

IMO, this guy does nothing. He steals the ideas of his team members and then acts like tyrant in front of people.


Hey all, I’m evaluating our HCM Tech Stack. We don't currently have an HRIS or HCM but we do have an ATS. We are a $500M a year company with the intention to grow significantly over the next 10 years. I'm curious what Technology others are using for ATS, Onboarding, and Talent Management? Is there an all-in-one that is great at everything or piece and part together?


I already have the SHRM-SCP. . would it be a value add to go for the SPHR as well?
