I am in similar position and leaving. If partners don’t like you or have some bias, then you can’t ever be successful there. They’ll only notice what reinforces their opinions. My new firm seems very excited to have me though!
For $15k? Why not just switch teams eventually? If you have expertise, any other team will pick you up. $15k is not worth it if you have a good brand built for yourself currently and if you like everything else about the company
Thing is to switch teams I would need to move (it’s complicated). Also I want to get back to my home state. This job offer is in that state and still in Assurance which is what I want to do.
Sounds like it’s not just the Partner that’s causing your move. So go ahead and move? What is the point of asking them to match if you want to move closer to home anyways? (Assuming they don’t have an office closer to home that you can transfer to)
Look at it this way - you already know your current firm ‘needs’ you, and you can already make x amount at this new place you’d rather work at. Nothing your current firm or partner is saying or offering is new or changes those facts. Ignore it and move forward
If a partner doesn’t like you - leave your team ASAP.
If the partner doesn’t like you, you wont be successful in longterm anyways, leave while you can
To add to everything above, I am pretty sure even if the partner wanted to, very little chance he gets approval for regional leadership to do so.
