Negotiating is a response. You're saying "no at that salary". If they refuse to negotiate and drop you for that, than probably not worth working there.
The hiring manager will typically be the main decider on whether your requested comp gets approved, so no worries about raising your concerns politely to them.
Great, that is reassuring. Thank you!
If you respond to the original email, is there an OOO contact listed? I’d send an email asking for a phone call to discuss your concerns and let them respond.
If an offer has a deadline, it’s usually arbitrary. AKA if you ask to negotiate, they can “extend” the deadline if they wanted to. The deadline is intended to keep the process moving, it’s rarely a hard cutoff.
Yeah, reach out to the hiring manager and mention that you got the OOO note. Ask them how you should handle this. Let them run it down internally.
You could also potentially find a higher up HR person (director or VP or something) on LinkedIn, and ask them how to handle it. To be honest, it’s very unprofessional for an external-facing person like a recruiter to have an OOO without any reference to a point of contact, especially for an entire week. I’d hate to throw someone under the bus, but a situation like this needs to be learned from.
Too late to ask for additional turkeys .
Is it an internal or external recruiter?
Thanks! I got in touch by calling the recruiter. It’s about comp. We aligned on a start date before they sent me the offer letter.
