I don't think LGBT people or other minority groups have a particularly harder time finding jobs. It comes down to you as an individual. If you're someone who has a difficult time quickly adapting to new environments, regardless of sexual or gender identity, you'll have a hard time finding a new job and succeeding in that new job.
Best thing you can do is network with people. If you feel you need a special accomodation, talk to others that may be going / have gone through something similar.
The 2022 American Community Survey from the US Census Bureau found that same-sex couple households had a higher median income than opposite-sex couple households, but both partners in same-sex couples were more likely to be employed. Male-male couples had the highest median income.

Don't know OPs specific circumstances but using one sole characteristic like race or sexuality isn't very helpful. If OP is college educated, for example, which I assume is the case based on OP's title, using the standard statistics aren't really helpful.
In terms of potential discrimination, is OP gay, trans,, etc...? I think trans will likely face a lot of discrimination than someone who is gay.
What sort of role are you looking for?
You absolutely don’t have to bring up being gay - and also shouldn’t be in a place where you feel like you can’t whenever You decide to do so.
What state are you in? I ask this because I’m in Alabama but a bigger city and consider it pretty LGBTQ friendly. I just hired a transgender employee, and we’re renting out space for drag show bingo. I know my state is conservative but but be sure perceptions equal reality.
If you’re asking about severance package, all arguments are worth bringing up. But you probably need more than this - type of role, seniority, need for remote working due to personal situation (caring for elderly relatives?)
While I don’t fully share RSM‘s optimism, I do detect in your note that you are not yet in proactive, confident jobseeking mode yet. Natural to need time, am going through something similar. But remember you got this job because you are good and you will get the next one for the same reason.
