Need advice: Which company to choose as a 5 yrs experienced Data Engineer?

1. BlackRock – 28 LPA base + 3.4 LPA variable + 2.6 LPA in health & personal wellbeing = 34 LPA CTC

2. Adastra Corp (recently acquired by Carlyle) – 31.5 LPA base + 3.5 LPA variable (Work from Home option)

At this stage, I’m not actively looking for WFH. I value brand recognition, career stability, and long-term growth, but also don’t want to leave too much money on the table.

My firm typically does insurance defense, but we take plaintiffs cases here and there. Is it typical that work done by associates on contingency cases isn’t counted toward their billable hour requirements unless and until we receive our fee on the case? This is my first experience with this, but it’s hard for me to reach my hours as is, without spending time on non billable cases like this with no assurance that I’ll see billable credit at the end.

I’ve been a freelance print production designer for many years, and usually on-site in the before times. Now I work remote, and am finding it uneasy dealing with billing. Before I always billed hourly, which made sense, but it’s becoming an issue now. Some companies don’t have a full days’ work, so it seems wrong to bill full days, and it allows me to juggle projects for different companies, but my billable hours are down. I know I should bill a daily rate, but not sure that will fly. Thoughts?

Which one makes more sense as I graduate with an MHA: Work in strategy in a healthcare system, get experience for a few years then transfer to strategy consulting. Or start in consulting then probably transfer to a leadership position in healthcare strategy after a few years.

How many firms is too many? I’ve practiced 13 years. Since I was a 1st year associate, every 3 years or so I’ve been recruited for another opportunity that is hard to pass up. I’ve been at my current firm 3 years and got the call again, again about an opportunity that is hard to pass up. I don’t like having a reputation of a flight risk, but this keeps happening. Should I decline to pursue the opportunity just so I have a longer track record at my current firm? This will be my 4th if I move.
