Got a random email from a supposed Amazon recruiter for a SDE position (which is not at all a fit). The email is amazon.com domain and there are no red flags in the body but it doesn't feel like an Amazon recruiter due to the tacky signature, etc. Has anyone seen this kind of cold-calling from FAANG recruiter?

Probably as long as you’re getting /something/ out of the $600
As someone who went from no status to silver to gold to platnium this year, yes it is definitely worth $500-600 to go from gold to platnium. I fly Chicago to Atlanta and as platnium I am upgraded to comfort+ ~99% of the time and first class ~45% of the time (usually at least one leg I would get first class upgrade). As gold, I was upgraded only once to first class, and comfort+ maybe 50%. Keep in mind I do try to avoid peak flying times, which may increase my upgrades, but from my experience, gold is closer to no status than it is to platnium, so worth the bump up!
Platnium also gets a choice benefit (upgrade vouchers, some other choices), which definitely should cover that cost on it's own anyway
Absolutely
I think it’s worth it. The best benefit is being able to cancel award tickets for free. I book flights to Europe with miles all the time and just cancel the week before the trip if I can’t get PTO.
Just do a round trip mileage run somewhere that is 2k miles away
