I tried venting to my bf and he just doesn’t get it so just venting here - not looking for advice or anything. Please don’t be mean I can’t take it right now 😔
Wait until you turn 50 😰😰😰😰
Ugh same here
I’m in my mid 30s, and my hormones are affecting my ability to lose weight. I’ll tell you what though, when I look back at photos of myself in my 20s, I think, “wow, why did I spend all that time thinking I was fat?” I definitely wasn’t fat then. I weigh 74 lbs more than I did at my lowest weight in my 20s.
Same here. I thought I was fat back then but I wasn’t at all!
I am in my 30s and I feel the same way. But I am trying to turn it around by treating it as a reason to do more shopping! It’s working out pretty well so far.
I agree, everyone said wait until your metabolism catches up with you but OKAY was anyone going to point out the “catch up” was like 26-28 years old?!?!
I am going through this phase as well. Just turned 30, have a fear of trying on anything in my closet that doesn’t have elastic bc I’m tired of being disappointed when something feels snug.
Right now I’m just trying to work on myself. I’m on a 12-week workout program, just finished the first 6-weeks and I’m starting to feel muscle come in and slowly the lbs are coming off (-4 in the first 6 weeks and I had a holiday splurge with food.)
My advice— just find clothes that are comfy, don’t look at yourself in the mirror too hard and start making small steps to making a healthier you. It can start small with adding a walk into the routine but just start with a few healthy habits and watch them snowball into better things. Go easy on yourself and make small changes you got this. 🫶💛
I would go ask your GYN to test you for PCOS and/or insulin resistance.
I hear you and have gone through a similar experience myself. It’s interesting though bc while the number on the scale is the same, the body proportions change. And because of that, some things just don’t fit. Which I know is just an awful feeling altogether. I’m sorry you’re going through this. 😔
Have you tried talking to your doctor about it? If so, what did they say?
I had a similar experience after going on antidepressants in 2021. I gained 20 lbs and even when I completely weaned off the meds, and worked out like crazy for months (spin classes 4x a week!), nothing budged. My doctor disregarded my concerns and said it’s just age 😒 which just isn’t true bc i had no issues at all pre-meds. So now I’m trying a program through Found and so far it’s been great.
I feel like this is so normal for everyone. Have you asked your doctor to test your thyroid levels? It can make a huge difference. Also, remember that clothes should be made to fit your body. Your body is not made to fit in clothes. If the clothes you have no longer make you feel good, then spend some money to buy things that make you feel comfortable. Being comfortable in your clothes is half the battle of feeling like you look good. Don’t worry about the number/size… it’s all made up anyway.
Wait until 35 then 40. Oof. And apparently 50 so I have that to look forward to ☹️
Girl… RIGHT?! I used to be a size 0 then I turned 25 got diagnosed with anxiety and PMDD and gained some weight (thanks meds). Granted I could have stood to gain some but I was not prepared! 32 and a healthy size 4 now. I am slowly but surly accepting it but realizing I should probably start taking better care of my body.
My husband loves my body but I wish I was 20 pounds lighter again. He doesn’t get it.
Also the weird places thing is spot on most of mine when to my rear and hips but I also noticed it in my back which I don’t love makes shirts feel weird…
The way I look at it for myself is that if I don’t manage it now, it will be impossible to manage later. Start watching what you eat. Choose food wisely and don’t eat if your not hungry. Small portions and exercise. Exercise not only helps your physical vary but mentally. Walk or just do something for at least 30 min a day. If you can’t do every day, do every other. No excuses. Just give yourself the best version of yourself!

Go and find some outfits that you feel confident and comfortable in. Try not to freak out over what the size is.
The good thing here is that you said your weight has stayed the same. I went from a size 4 to a size 8/10 in my 4 years in college. It took me a year post-grad and lifestyle changes to maintain my size. I am healthy at a size 8 and have been able to maintain that for 2+ years now. What I have done clothing-wise is find items that truly flatter me and don’t be afraid to invest in tailoring your clothing. Don’t be too hard on yourself ♥️ you probably just need new clothes that flatter your body now
Everyone knows this happens as you age
I would recommend getting blood work done, specifically to check your thyroid. Hypothyroidism is one of the leading causes of the symptoms you are describing. Docs do not normally check for this you have to ask.
Wait until you hit 45!
Nooo 😭 I’m not ready to hear this
Pretty overwhelmed by all the responses here and happy to know I’m not alone 💕 I really appreciate all the kind words.
To everyone saying seek medical advice, I have never had a doctor take this seriously but found a naturopathic doctor through a family friend ~6 hours from where I live but making the commitment to do that next week. Thank you all so much!
Don't be too hard on yourself, OP. Your body isn't supposed to stay the same as you get older. Agree with comments about eating healthy and staying active. I'd also add that keeping alcohol instake low helps. I also found that I needed to rethink the type of exercise I was doing once I got into my mid-20s. Cardio alone wasn't cutting it. I added in weight training and saw much better results (more tone, less jiggle).
