Amen
The agencies that just signed bloated 10-year leases may not see it that way, even though you're right.
And you’ll have to be paying the overhead for working at home.
But not commuting, so less spent on gas, transit, insurance, car- not to mention clothing and food...I think for most people it’s a net win. Your internet bill won’t go up. Nor will your insurance.
Heat and electric did rise for me, by about $80 a month-ish. But no transit pass ($80) or gas and way less sushi for lunch still puts me in the black.
The only way you should get paid less is if you’re working in a different country. Then you have to get hired through the local office and at local rates (legally). Otherwise, same job means same money
If the agency moved to a smaller city with lower overhead costs would they reduce their fees? Hell no
You are worth what you are because of your experience, knowledge and skills. Yes that was gained by working in a certain location with certain clients but all that is now in the past. Your value is the same regardless of where you live or work anymore.
Agencies tout their talent based on their skills, experience and knowledge aka value they bring.

I have no issue with folks being paid same and working remote, but this idea that they should give you a stipend on top of your salary for you to use doing what you specifically asked to do? Nah.
And if it’s remote and you have to fly there for meetings, do you expect them to pay and give you a per diem? There’s give and take to this and companies are not just going to set precedents of giving people what they want on all fronts. They’ll do the bare minimum and see how that goes.
Also, my firm moved to hot desks before the pandemic, and did all their projections based on that overhead. So now you want them to cut earnings more in order to pay you more rondo what they’ve already planned on for a few years? Not likely.
