OK, so I have very strong client relationships and manage (or perform) all of the work for many of them, but how do I decide if the business is truly portable? Might I get some of it, all, none? How long does it take to prepare a job description? I left EY for a position in the industry and my firm ended up using EY Law.... anyway, it’s been 4.5 months since we kicked off the process and EY Law has been sitting on job description. Any thoughts?

I’m a second year associate at a small, but reputable firm. My caseload is almost entirely made up of clients who were referred to one of the partners but the partners are too busy so I end up taking the case. The clients are told up front that an associate, rather than a partner will be taking his/her case. I’ve run into an issue a couple of times where the client doubts my advice because I am only 2 years in. Has anyone else experienced this? How do I address the fact that I’m only 2 years in?

I just finished a big jury trial with a senior partner (SP). There were co-parties w/separate counsel. SP mentally checked out, to the point that co-counsel was asking what SP was doing/if SP was okay. I ended up handling most everything. SP did a few parts but went rogue and did things that were offensive/risky/bad for client. It became clear that SP is not performing like SP used to and may be a liability. Do I tell someone at my firm? Don’t want to offend SP or cause drama, but I’m concerned.
