Okay. So I got an offer letter pending a background check. Do I wait for the check to be done or just go ahead and give my notice? I should pass just fine. Also, feel free to give me resources on a good resignation letter.

I think you should wait until the check is completed before giving notice, just to be safe

like

Do the right thing for you and only you!

They will fire you immediately once you give your notice. It's better not to say anything until it's your last day.

like

Thats never happened to me. I give notice and they have me work till the last minute. The last girl who quit they did the same thing she worked till the last minute.

It would kind of cripple them if they did that to me. Id make sure others knew if that happened.

like

I wouldn't wait unless you know you have something in your negative background.

like

It took my husband’s background check 5 weeks to clear before he could start his position at Amazon. There was nothing bad in his past, just one of the counties we lived in wouldn’t return calls or something.

like

There is no scenario where you should give your notice until you are **fully cleared**. The only entity that takes on risk by doing something else is YOU.

Wait for the check to be done.

While you know what’s likely to come up, it’s the unknown that could l throw you a curveball and leave you without a job.

You wouldn’t be the first to find out someone sole their identity and ran up some large debt. Anything can and does happen. No one is more surprised and wounded than the applicant who lost 2 jobs.

been in industry (small companies) for 5 years with an active CPA. Wanted to get in SEC reporting roles but almost every company requires 2-year public accounting exp. Now applying for public accounting firms entry level positions but almost all firms HR asked if I had ever worked in firms. Got rejection emails from firms all the time. Is this a dead lock? firms exp matters much more than a CPA license?

Hi - I am a career pivot from higher education into tech and have final round interviews for a DEI Coordinator role (which I'm super excited for). I am meeting with three people that I would be partnering with for the job and it was shared with me that these interviews will mainly be behavioral as well as questions on my technical skills. Does anyone have any resources to help me prepare for this? Anything is greatly appreciated!

So I say this with complete humility and an understanding that this is a fortunate-ish situation to be in. I’m in a position where I am tied to nothing, I have no children, spouse, or house. My job, which I’ve loved until some recent significant leadership changes, is sucking the life out of me and I think it may be time for a change. Because I am able to “pick up and go” I’m open to opportunities and locations. I’ve never worked with a recruiter but was hoping I could get some recommendations!
