On the bench now and chances of getting staffed by Thanksgiving look bleak. Should I basically call it a year at this point and take PTO to soften the utilization blow?

PTO doesn’t soften the blow - it doesn’t remove the required hours per year

You should quit

That's 100% on management if ur not chargeable do not not not burn your PTO

You should ask around to figure out if low util is because people don't like using you or business is just slow

Let’s repeat what D1 said. Taking PTO will not impact your utilization in any way. Do not do that thinking it will help

like

PTO doesn't help utilization. You have a percentage based on your level out of 2080 hours.

like

It helps at EY bc we're measured on effective UT.

like

You joined Sept this year? I won’t worry too much about utilization in your year 1.

like

D7. It’s kinda true. It’s really hard for first year to get a 2 or 1. Esp that you just joined - half of the performance year has already passed.

Keep your chin up and don't burn your PTO -- something will fall into place!

I don’t know the specifics of how things are at D, but I’m very much against using pto to bolster your chargeability- that’s your personal time. Instead be hyper visible wrt BD and other initiatives.

Just joined the firm in September as an experienced hire. Should I be worried about my job security?

OP, which office, which SL, what skillset?

Look internal

Same here OP. Just joined the firm and rolling off in a month. Heard the first year we ll get a 3 no matter what. Lmk if anyone knows otherwise

If buy the partners you work with regularly a holiday gift, how much do you spend? Usually I get baked goods or food items which you can’t tell the actual amount spent on. This year, though, I’d like to support local restaurants by encouraging people to order takeout—hence, giving gift cards.

How much is appropriate for a restaurant gift card from an associate to a partner?

I just found out that people bill more than 8 hours in a day to help with utilization (ie. submitting 8.5 or 9 hours as a standard day). Is this common practice?

Since we returned to office in October, is it appropriate to give holiday gifts to team members?
