Our office is technically open this week, but no one’s around except a few of us holding down the fort. I’m trying to get ahead, but it’s hard to stay focused when leadership’s offline and half the systems are locked behind PTO. Do you actually work the week between Christmas and New Year’s or just fake it until January 2?

When I used to work during that period, I just called people all day to connect with them, and ask for some time in the new year to sit down and do some financial planning… but most of the senior advisors weren’t in the office…

But for the last couple of years I’ve just taken the week of Christmas and the week of New Year’s off… so this year that was the 19th - 5th…

I do a lot of organizing of my online folders/docs. Empty my email. Do some planning /organizing/reflecting. Take the AI training modules I never got around to doing.

I’m technically working but that’s only to respond to emails and answer calls from my ceo.

I’m just getting some things ready for next year when work is back to normal. Organizing my calendar and trying to figure out what changes to make to my routines.

I want to resign from the current place I’m working at. I plan to pursue higher studies (LLM), for which I’m already admitted to a university, in the field that I’m working in right. The notice period at my current firm is that of 3 months. Please suggest as to when should I tender my resignation in order to get a small vacation period as well as the full salary for the months I’m working for

Should I take this role?
Pros: 50k bump, company is full remote, no time tracking software, unlimited PTO, 10k in quarterly bonuses, vertical move in responsibility and title, will set me up for future roles in different companies with the title I am looking for (so strategic move)

Cons: Its a startup, the solution they offer is adjacent to my desired industry, its a very small team so I wouldn’t grow my network as much, tech stipend for new laptop (but they don’t provide a work one)

We are seeing more pushback from employees on working 40 hours. We offer flexibility (wfh), 11 holidays and another 3 wks PTO. Seems like a good gig, I think, at 40-45 hrs. Anyone seeing this too?

Hello folks,

I am new to fishbowl and recently got an offer from Publicis Sapient for a senior associate. They are offering $136k with unlimited pto benefits. As I am from the industry and haven't heard about this company before, I would like some comments or thoughts about working for this company? How do they invest in their employees (like pay raise, promotions, etc)?

How long is too long to try to push back a start date? Getting a formal offer early next week but trying to keep that big law bonus if possible. Firm pays out bonuses Dec 30 & I have a vacation scheduled Dec 19-23 (and was planning on working remotely the week after too). Ideally want to get EOY bonus or negotiate for a signing bonus but is it too much to push for signing bonus and those weeks off? I'm open to working remotely those two weeks but know that may not be the best when I start.

Best everyday bank account and credit card in Australia for an expat couple?

I‘m moving to Australia with my partner and we don’t have a bank account and credit cards yet. We basically need the bank account only for everyday finance stuff (local payments, debit card, etc) and we‘re looking for some credit cards with good international fees and ideally a reward program to collect some points for traveling.
