Parents in public accounting, what are your strategies for balancing the stress and anxiety of a new baby with the demands of public accounting life? Feels impossible to be in the office (hybrid), helping with the baby, keeping up the house/yard, staying active, etc.

Me and my partner are not sure whether we want to have kids . Sometimes we want to and the next day we are completely against the idea . The reason we want to have kids is that we want to grow our inner circle , have more people in this world who we can call our family. And we don’t want to have kids is that it will put extra pressure on us , less freedom for next 10-15 years. Wanted to understand why people have kids or don’t have kids . Please share your thoughts :)

What is work-life balance like in big tech legal? I’m currently in house at a large multinational; I like my job and I get paid fine, with a very good WLB (40-45 hrs). I want to look into FAANG-type opportunities as they would mean a huge pay bump, and I think I’m qualified, but I have no idea about the hours, and I don’t want to substantially give up WLB, as that’s why I left BigLaw. I don’t want to be miserable again. I know Amazon is poorly reputed for lawyer WLB… what about other places?

What’s your work-life balance like? I feel like I’m constantly working after hours, always balancing multiple projects, hardly ever going through a phase where there isn’t a ton of critical initiatives going on. It definitely wasn’t like this when I was a more junior PMM, but as a Senior PMM, my work-life balance has severely decreased. Is this just the nature of Product Marketing? Or can I actually find a senior PMM role that allows a bit more room to breathe?

Does anyone have ideas for social distancing little kids walking in line? Teaching personal space in moving lines is difficult in normal years, but this year I don't know how I will get them to keep a 6ft. distance as they walk.

So… 3.5 year relationship came crashing in Jan due to covid depression, work burn out, lockdown etc. We have stayed in contact and recently he has come around to apologizing and considering getting back together. How do people doing PI defense / insurance defense work like what they're doing and hows the pay generally speaking? I took an interview thinking I wasn't super interested but then after speaking with them, I thought the work seems like good litigation experience and the partners seemed nice / like they respect a good work/life balance so I'm trying to get some more perspective on it...

Third year associate salary ranges for NY?

One of my senior managers is a boomerang and told me she was laid off when she was 7 months pregnant about 10 years ago. I think she was a senior or manager. She was in a specific group and everybody was laid off. It wasn’t performance based.
