I’m 5 years into consulting. Most of my friends I started in consulting with are now managers at other firms. I feel like I’m doing something wrong and fail at work for not being promoted to manager despite all the good feedback I’ve received.

How do you keep your relationship interesting with your partner?

First-gen grad students, does your family put pressure on you to succeed? It feels like our relationship is them just bugging me about my work. I’d love some advice, I miss my fam.

Sometimes I wish when you were with a partner, there was a very clear sign that the person doesn’t love you so that you know it’s time to walk away. My partner and I keep having the same problems, and when I express he’s making me feel a certain way he says he didn’t mean it like that obviously. Hello. My mid-year review is coming up soon. My boss has been on partial sabbatical the last 3 months, so I have been covering for her. In this first half of the year, the other person on our 3 person team left, so I had to cover that. I have also had to train 2 people that ended up not working out or quitting. This will be my 6th year. I am an AVP at Credit Suisse in Raleigh and am currently making about 72K. Just trying to gauge if I should ask for a raise in this upcoming meeting.

Seeking advice: I’ve been working as an analyst at a PE company for 18months 4 days a week on a part time contract and I feel like they are under paying me. I’m earning 42.2K p.a They want me to go full time as I am graduating however I don’t know what the base salary for an analyst with 18 months experience would be. My friend who works as an analyst (with less experience than me) is earning 70K. Would love to get a sense of what I should be expecting / asking for when I go full time. Thanks!

Im starting a new job but still employed somewhere else. I was trying to be open about staying at BOTH places. My current job won’t let me be part time because they don’t allow “set schedules”. Yet I am one of the only reliable and loyal employees in the department, and currently working a set schedule. So why will they not let me continue a set schedule but with different hours? This place is more focused on strict policies and not actually trying to work their employees and being flexible.
